Input Dynamic Range A normal ear can typically detect sound over a 120dB range from 0 to 120 dB : it is the acoustic dynamic range. The input dynamic range is the range of sound levels that the speech processor can capture for further processing and delivery to the electrical dynamic range. In the CLARION this can be up to 80dB
intensity is the sound power transmitted within a given area of the sound field. It is also used to quantify the amount of sound. The logarithm of the ratio of two intensities times 10 gives the dB value. The auditory correlate of intensity is loudness.
